Driver issues with Broadcom BCM4603

I am trying to get my Buffalo WLI2-PCI-G54S which has a Broadcom BCM4306 chipset. I believe I have downloaded the correct drivers from Buffalo's website, and ndiswrapper installs them fine, but ifup does not recognise my wlan0 connection, "wlan0 no such interface". Does anyone know how to set up these drivers in openSUSE 10.1 (non remastered).

You also need to install the kernel-module-ndiswrapper package. Then you need to modprobe it.

Also, in the YaST2 -> Network -> network devices setup, make a note of the "Advanced" button on the bottom of the configuration page for wireless. Select the "hardware information" button and enter in "ndiswrapper" in the device field.

That said, I had a problem the the version of ndiswrapper that 10.1 supplied and needed to compile a new ndiswrapper and ndiswrapper-kernel module from source. I noticed the fact that the source had an ndiswrapper.spec file, so I simply extracted the spec file to the /etc/src/packages/SPECS/ directory, the source to the /etc/src/packages/SOURCE/ directory and then from the SPECS directory I ran: sudo rpmbuild -ba ndiswrapper.spec. This produced two ndiswrapper packages which I installed.

The error I got was when I tried to modprobe the ndiswrapper module.

Remember also the "ndiswrapper -m" command to update your /etc/modprobe.d/ndiswrapper alias.

If you mean bcm4306 chipset you might find the bcm43xx module already loading and conflicting with ndiswrapper. Type /sbin/lsmod in console and see if bcm43xx appears. The 4306 is fully supported so once you install the firmware for it using fwcutter is preffered in this case to ndiswrapper.
For now though if bcm43xx is there try modprobe -r bcm43xx and modprobe -r ndiswrapper and then modprobe ndiswrapper again.
See what happens and post back.
