Drake 9.2, HP Pavilion & Broadcom wi-fi card. Live connection, but no internet.

Newbie having problem getting wi-fi connection to work.
Configuration detals are at bottom of post.

I am using a HP Pavilion laptop with an internal Broadcom 802.11g wireless card (BCM94306) and running Mandrake Linux 9.2.

The wireless card works under Windows XP home. I am also able to get a live internet connection under Mandrake with a wired

connection through my National Semiconductor ethernet card. But, I cannot get the wireless internet connection.

This particular Broadcom card did not appear to be supported by the "out-of-the-box" Mandrake distro. So, after some

research, I found others overcoming this problem by using Linuxant's DriverLoader. This seems to have worked in getting

Mandrake to recognize the wirelss card. The card now shows up as "eth1" in the "LAN Configuration" section of the "Networks

and Internet" page of the Mandrake Control panel. In the panel it shows the boot protocol correctly as DHCP, the driver as

"driverloader" and it does pull an IP address when activiated.

It also shows up in the Wizard. I have used the wizard to configure the internal modem, ethernet card, and wireless card. And

with the last question I select the LAN option for an internet connection instead of the modem.

However, "modem" still shows up as the internet connection type on the "Networks and Internet" page -- even when there is a

live internet connection through the ethernet card. I can't find a place in this part of the page to change the connection

type from modem to LAN, but perhaps its not important.

So, I think I'm close here, the wireless card is recognized by Manrdrake, is active, and grabs an IP number through DHCP. But

when I try to load an internet page, I get an "Unknown host"
error. But this doesn't appear to be a DNS problem because even sites called by IP address
have the same error message and do not load.
Any ideas on what I can do to actually get an internet connection up?

Thanks.
