downloading wirless PC card for laptop running fed redhat 5.0.32

Hi there, I am a new linux user and have installed fedora core redhat version 5.0.32 onto my laptop. It is my intention to create a network between my laptop and two desktops. The desktops are running on windows xp and are currently connected to the net via a wireless router. I have a NETGEaR 54Mbps Wirless PC card for the laptop which I have been told is incompatable for linux. Could someone please tell me what and possibly where I could download a suitable wireless pC card so as I can connect my laptop to the net?
Many thanks.

1. My 54Mbps Netgear wireless card works fine, what model do you have?
2. Do you have you some kind of matter transporter? Download a wireless PC card Me thinks you mean drivers.

Thanks for your quick response Okmyx, yes I did mean driver. I'm suffering from information overload...
The PC card I have is a WG511 v2. I have spoken to a tech. from netgear this morning who tells me it is not compatable with linux os.
Thanks

Hello mara33,

Let me be clear. Don't waste your time with FC 5 to make it work in a wirless network. Either it is too hard to setup (specailly for newbies) or would never work. I was told do this or that and people will give you wonderful speeches that works fine. If I were you I would switch to anything except FC5.

The short cut is switching to FC6 or use a different distrbution i.e. ubuntu or Debian.

Regards,
ak

For more information you can go to http://www.ces.clemson.edu/linux/fc5_setup.shtml#wire

and as you will see it ends with this statement: "Tests show that even this approach fails. A FC5 bug has been filed."
