Hello All,
I'm pretty new to the whole linux experience so I'm sorry in advance if this is an easy situation that I cannot find the answer to. I have been searching Google for some time and have come up with many ideas in which none seem to work.
I'm in the process of setting up my wireless card and configuring it to my router. The card is a NetGear wg311 and the router is a Motorola 1000. I am running a dual boot with XP and FC3. I know the card works because it does fine in XP and in FC3. Only in FC3 it does not load on the boot. I have installed the madwifi drivers and set it up so I could access the Internet. The drivers do load on boot. The error that I receive from the beginning is as follows:
"Device ath0 had a different MAC address than expected: Failed"
Then soon after that error before the login screen I get:
"Could not look up Internet address for user. This will prevent GNOME from operating correctly. It may be possible to correct the problem by adding user to the file /etc/hosts."
After I finally log on, I click on my browser to check if it will work anyhow. As I figured, no success. I go into Applications/System Tools/Network Device Control from the drop down menu. I click on activate and the error about the Different Mac Address appears. I click on configure and activate in the configuration menu and it determines the IP address. I use my browser and i can now connect to the Internet.
How would I go about setting it up so linux can connect to the Internet on boot? How can I find what MAC addresses don't match up? Or how can I resolve the problem so i don't have to do each of those steps previously mentioned to connect to the Internet.
Thanks in advance for any help,
