desktop wireless card (PCI) and wireless router recommendations

I will be getting Comcast cable available in my house shortly (It is the only option for hi-speed right now). However, the cable modem will be located on the top floor of the house and I am in the basement, therefore wireless sounded like the best option for me. I just wanted to hear what your recommendations are for good, easy to use wireless routers and wireless cards for a desktop that is compatible with Linux. I have a dual-boot XP, Debian Sarge PC. I would like the wireless card to work flawlessly in both operating systems. Also, whatever advice you can give for setting up the network would be appreciated. Thanks
