Debian Wireless Help

I need some major help here. I've got the sarge installation (kernel 2.6 something, the 2.4 one wont work) and I'm trying to get my linksys wmp54gs card to work. Here's the thing, when i use lspci, debian recognizes my card, but when i try to iwconfig, debian craps and tells me that my wireless isn't "properly" installed (n00b). If anyone could help, I'd be very appreciative.

if you have a wired NIC working (and connected to the net) try [as root]: apt-get install pcmcia-cs

I have the same exact problem and have been unable to resolve it. I have tried apt-get install pcmcia-cs as root. I just cannot seem to get the card powered up and running. (yes i know the card is working and not faulty.)
