Debian & Intel I865PERL MB (ON BOARD NIC)
 

The basics (System Config):

Intel I865PERL Main Board (800MHz FSB, HT Support, Onboard LAN, Audio, 8x USB 2.0)
Intel P4 2.8CGHz (HT)
1GB (@400MHz) RAM
GEFORCE MX/MX400 Video
2x80GB (WD w/8MB Buffer)

Running off Linksys Wireless Router (WRT54G) Hardwired.
Static IP for box = 192.168.1.100
Domain name assigned to my IP: hybrid-tech.com (forwarded to linux box by router).

QUESTION:
During my install of Debian (currently attempting to upgrade from RedHat 9.0)
--> I can not select to download packages from http.
--> I can back out of the install after installing the core files to disk.

How do I get my NIC to work? Should the ne drivers be sufficient, or will I have to purchase another NIC as my Onboard Intel R Pro 10/100 is not supported?

hi - i was wondering - why can you not select to download packages from the net? did it pick up the eth device driver before this part (or did you select it from the list)? (i had burnt the first CD of stable, installed the base-system with it, then after that did an apt-dist-upgrade to unstable via http - and i had selected a eth driver for it during the first time )

It doesn't appear to be loading the eth drivers...And I have tried a few from the list (modconfig) but been unsuccessful. There must be drivers for the Integrated PRO/100 as it is quite a popular card no? Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

i see the line:
# CONFIG_EEPRO100 is not set

in there, and im assuming that it shouldnt be a problem using something which is supported in the kernel. :D
p.s: im assuming again that this is the line you have to set for your card?

once u select that driver, it should ask for a hostname for ur machine, and then get an ip addr using dhcp. and u should be set.
