D-Link wireless USB adapter problems

Hi, I am a newbie to linux, and I can't get my wireless USB adapter to work. I am running Suse 9.1. I need help finding out where to get a driver that will work and how to install it. My adapter is a D-Link DWL-G120, if that helps any. I've tried configuring a wireless card with YaST, but it doesn't work. In the Hardware Tool, under Unknown, it says "D-Link Unclassified device". I've ejected and loaded it but nothing works. So, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, bigcat.

Here's a link to get you started:

Check for your model of card, then follow the link and read more on that page about how to install the drivers. Sorry I can't be any more help and I hope this helps you out.

I downloaded some files, but I don't know how to install them. I downloaded "patch-2.6.4-prism54-1.1.bz2, patch-2.6.4-prism54-stable-latest.bz2, prism54-1.1.tar.bz2, prism54-cvs-latest.tar.bz2). I don't know if i need all of these, but I dowloaded them anyway. Thanks for the website, that is where I downloaded the files from. Now I just need to figure out how to install them. Thanks. bigcat35

Just a guess, but I think all you need is prism54-1.1.tar.bz2. Again, just a guess, you may find out more as you read more into it.

Some generic driver installation tips:

1. Make sure you have the right driver (you should be fine since it gives you the link right on the company's webpage).

2. Decompress the file. I use Fedora, so all I do is right click the file then extract to... It may be different for Suse. Try man bzip2 to find out how to decompress.

3. Check the extracted files for a README or INSTALL file and read it step by step.

4. The rest is configuration, which I may be able to help you with if you are unsure so post back if you have any more troubles.

I hope some of this is helpful.

By the way: Welcome to LQ!
