D-Link DWL-AG132 Linux drivers wanted ...

Hi,

I recently purchased D-Link DWL-AG132 wireless USB adapter and I am trying to make it work on Fedora Core 4. I tried using ndiswrapper but it does not work with ndiswrapper. This adapter is not supported with linux-wlan. I could not find much help on google either. Could anyone please suggest some ideas on how to make this work ?

Thanks,

Sudhi.

Have you tried the Support page for your product. There are no special drivers here - but there is a number and a e-mail for technical assistance.

Note, this is for the USA - you should edit your profile to include your location and distro. This helps folk answer your questions.

Anticipating no/slow luck with the tech-line ...

with the adapter plugged in, do: lspci, lsusb, and iwconfig and post the output.

Check your ndiswrapper install against this set of instructions

... you have the windows drivers installed right?

Then you modprobe ndiswrapper and use the iwconfig commands to configure the card? What happened when you tried this?

Bear in mind, however, that with fedora you are best with ethernet or pci wireless lan cards. The support is very strong.

D-Link DWL-AG132 Linux drivers wanted ...

Simon,

Thanks for the reply. I contacted D-Link tech support team and all they told me was that there is no Linux driver for this card yet. They didn't know if it would work with ndiswrapper.

This card is not listed under the ndiswrapper list of supported adapters. However, I tried using ndiswrapper. ndiswrapper successfully detects this hardware. For instance, when I do
Code:
ndiswrapper -l
without inserting the card, it gives the message "neta5agu driver present". When I do
Code:
ndiswrapper -l
after inserting the card, it displays "neta5agu driver present, hardware present". This definitely is an indication that it is detecting the card, but the Lnk light of the wireless card doesn't glow. Also, iwconfig does not display any wireless extensions. Any ideas ?

Thanks,

Sudhi.

(BTW, lsusb displays "Bus 001 Device 007: ID 2001:3a01 D-Link Corp. [hex]". )

Yes - your card is not supported for linux. Get one that is.

D-Link have an equivalent card based on ethernet links which is well supported in linux - they may be prepared to exchange.

Caveat Emptor.

(If you are very keen - have a look through dmesg before and after the adaptor is plugged in. It may be that the adapter is getting assigned the wrong driver. But I'm betting there is nothing you can do here. If D-Link say it don't run in linux then it most likely dosn't.)
