I've been working on getting my D-Link DWL-122 to work forever but still no luck:
i read that ndiswrapper works pretty well and it seems easier to do, but I stll cannot get my system to detect the hardware.
I'm using Fedora 2 kernel: 2.6.5-1.358 and ndiswrapper version 0.10, and the D-Link DWL-122 driver 102 from
ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Wireless/dwl122/Driver/
which is what the ndiswrapper website directed me to
i followed the instructions,
extracted ndiswrapper into a folder, cd into that folder, typed "make install"
extracted my D-Link driver, there were two NETPRISM.inf files, so I figured it should be the WinXP driver and used the one in the WinXP directory:
ndiswrapper -i <path of inf>
and it says "Installing netprism" and then it says /etc/ndiswrapper does not exist... but i figure that is just a debug statement and it created the directory by itself.
but now , when i type ndiswrapper -l, it no longer matches the INSTALL file... i
i get
Installed ndis drivers
netprism hardware NOT present
... and i dunno how to go from here, my usb card is plugged in and both lights are solid and on. when i type "tail /var/log/messages -f" and plug or unplug the unit, it does respond:
localhost kernel: usb 5-2: USB disconnect, address 3 (when unplugging)
localhost kernel: usb 5-2: new full speed USB device using address 4 (when plugging in the device)
so Linux at least know that SOMETHING is there, but it doesn't tie the device to the driver i installed... i haven't tried other drivers yet, but ndiswrapper's site specifically says my card is supported and that it was working... so i dunno what else to do
any suggestions?
btw: i JUST installed Fedora 2 and didn't do any other configurations on the machine other than what i just described.
