Configure wireless with Intel WiFi Link 1000 on HP Probook 4710s

I try to use wireless with my HP Probook 4710s.

What I did up to now ...
When I installed Ubuntu 9.04 wireless configuration came up automatically but I was not able to connect to my router (Sinus 1054 DSL). But it did work under windows.
I tried several steps and finally installed ndiswrapper but nothing helped.
lspci found Intel WiFi Link 100

Now I upgraded to ubuntu 10.04 and lspci finds
"Intel Corporation WiFi Link 1000 Series"
I uninstalled ndiswrapper, because I think this card should be supported by the kernel.

But iwconfig still does not find anything, it just lists lo and eth0 with no wireless extensions.

How should i proceed?

This page, although it doesn't specifically mention your card, leads me to beleive that you should be using the iwlwifi driver. I don't have this card in any of my machines, maybe someone who does can help you more.

You need to install the Broadcom STA driver found in Synaptic Package Manager. I know it doesn't make sense but I have the same set up and that is what it took to play after a reboot.

wlan0 is running now with module iwlagn, but WPA does not work

I searched further and found that the iwlagn kernel module might be the right one for the intel WiFi 1000.

After I loaded it with modprobe iwlagn, I could get the interface up and the wicd network manager is scanning and finding my access point.

But I keep getting a "password incorrect" message, even if I activate the wireless router without encryption.

Can this still be a problem with the wlan driver (iwlagn) or is this some new problem?

@FewClues: Do you still think I should try and install the Broadcom STA driver?

@Fewclues

I'm having trouble with the same issue on my HP Tm2t laptop with the Intel wireless-N 1000 chip.

I've searched to try and find how to replace the iwlagn driver with the broadcom STA but haven't been able to find any answers.

Can you please point me in the right direction or if it's not too much trouble write out the steps I should take?

Thank you,
Phaedrus
