cicsco aironet 350 with fedora core 1 (kernel 2.6)

Hi,

I want to install Fedora Core 1 on my laptop wich comes with Cisco Wireless 350 PCMCIA adapter.

1. Will FC1 work with this card using 128-bit WEP encryption?
2. Will it also work if I upgrade to Kernel 2.6.0?
3. If it works, how do I configure it properly?

Well I don't know if this questions has been asked before, but I'm a total newbie in the Linux area coming from a Win32 world

If there's any other distro that works with this card, then please tell me.

Cheers

Cisco 350 With Fedora

I have my Cisco 350 wireless card working with Fedora. I have to tell you it was not easy. In fact it is a SHAME that these common cards are so ditfficult to get working. The directions seem simple, but it never works they way the directions say. You shold plug it in, it finds the driver, you restart networking and away you go. One issue is that the Red Hat Network tool SUCKS for setting up wireless cards. It just goes to show that Redhat/Fedora don't care about desktops/laptops. Unfortunately, that is what I have to use since Suse 9.0 sucks even worse with my Toshiba laptop.

I will try to get some directions together for you, but be prepared to spend a little while messing with it to get it to work.

I also have a CIsco 350 series 802.ll b card. The biggest problem I had took about 2 months to figure out.. Certain versions of the firmware on those cards don'tseem to support Linux however it worked fine with FreeBSD, and Windows. I don't remember for sure but I think I finally got it working with 4.3.(something) . Again I don't remember off the top of my head but I think it was the 5.x versions that didn't work. Once I got that straightened out the install was relatively easy.

Thank you both. Well it would be really nice with some directions in deed
My firmware is reported as 4.25.30 and it should be compatible with Linux.
I got it working with MEPIS Linux distro, but they had a tool for it

Well, thanks for your answers and I'm awaiting the directions.

Cheers

Can't speak for Fedora, but 4.25.30 is the level I had to go back to to get the card working on RH9.
Need to be careful as Windows uploaded a firmware update when I updated the ACU client - this is a dual boot (Win2000) laptop.
Took a few days to sort out.
