Hi everyone!

I have just updated all of the packages installed in my Fedora distro, including the Linux kernel, to 2.6.8-1 from 2.6.7-1. I made it using Fedora's distro yum, which automatically identifies updated packages available on the server. As a newbie I updated all of the packages available.

I was using Fedora Core 3 Test 1 (2.90) and updated to Fedora Core 3 Test 3 (2.92).

The problem is that I always receive the following message in the boot up process:

And then the booting process continues.

This is the description in the udevstart man page:
"udevstart walks trough the sysfs device tree and calls udev to create the nodes for every valid device found. It can be used to fill a empty device directory with nodes for all devices currently available on the system."

It seems all the devices in the system are recognized after running this program. Before updating the packages, I had installed some drivers to use the non-Intel Linux support Pentium Centrino (for wireless LAN). Right now, all my driver setup seems to be useful, because the Centrino is not identified in the system. By the way, I also cannot see my WinXP NTFS partition, that have been mapped before pckgs update.

Does anyone can give me a hand on this issue?

For your NTFS support. Was it in the kernel with which you updated? If not you don't have the support now and thus you can't see it.

After a kernel compile it's pretty normal that you have to update some drivers. Have you tried installing the driver again?

Seems to be a bug with kernel-2.6.8-1.624 , must go back to kernel-2.6.8-1.610 .

How can I install a previous version of the kernel with no much pain?
=) Where can I download it? (Sorry, I'm newbie)

You can download a kernel at www.kernel.org or preferably one of its mirrors. You have to compile the kernel yourself then. If you don't want to do that you might search your distro's ftp sites.
