Cant get internet to work

ok, i know that this question has been asked about a million times, I'm sure. I've looked around a bit though and haven't found an answer.

I just installed a wireless network card. Linksys 802.11g.

I also have a regular network card in my box right now, but no line coming in. I want to use the new wireless card, but can't remember where or how to set it up.

Im running slackware 9.0 btw.

Any suggestions or pointers in the right direction would be a huge help.

Linksys uses many different chip sets, and its even worse within a model it can change with a new version.

Linksys usually uses Tulip chips. I'm using Linksys also with my box, but not wireless. This has worked both on my RH9 and now with my new Slack10.

What is the file name that specifies what PCI slot to use for the network, WEP stuff and/or any other junk that I need to do to make this work?

On any slot it will work. I just plug this and the installations detected it automatically.

Try to do this:

# cat /proc/pci |more

You should see all the PCI devices installed and running - including your card. It will de described as Linksys and the Tulip name you might also see.

I have two cards in my box, RL8139 (Realtek) and this Linksys. Both detected automatically. I didn't do anything manually exept setting the static IP.

If it's a broadchip then there are two option
linuxant
or
ndiswrapper

Linuxant (http://www.linuxant.com) has made a wrapper called Driverloader for Windows drivers.
Register on homepage, get a license key (it is a 30 days trial version), unpack and install.
Everything worked without problems. Only problem is that this driver is 30 days trial version.
To be able to use it, you have to turn on Wireless support in kernel without any drivers.
