Hello

linux distro : fedora 4- 2.6.11
Network: wireless- wpa protected
wireless card dlink g520+

I have recently installed a g520+ pci using the windows drivers via ndsiwrapper 1.7. The card appears to be installed without any probs however when scanning or trying to obtain ip address from router via the KDE Network conf tool and when activating it, it says:

activating nework device wlan0, please wait....
Determining IP Information for wlan01...failed

Below are a few t/shooting i did:

[root@localhost ~]# ndiswrapper -l
Installed drivers:
gplus driver present, hardware present
[root@localhost ~]#

[root@localhost ~]# ifup wlan0

Determining IP information for wlan0... failed.

[root@localhost ~]# iwconfig

Note
using the lsmod command, the module ndiswrapper does appear to be loaded but not used
Also, the pci card light on the back is on,
Also, using the kde network config tool it doesnt appear to accomodate for spa settings.

Please can someones advice me further- i feel like aim nearly there but just need a little guidance to complete.
Thanks a bunch in advance!

Did you try setting IP manually.

As superuser
#ifconfig wlan0 < IP address> netmask 255.255.255.0 up

and if needed default gateway (if using a router)

#route add default gw <IP address of your router>

#ifconfig

Should show interface wlan0.

You will need to add your providers DNS to /etc/resolv.conf

This may get you started. Hope it helps.

Regards.
