Building Linux Access Point

Hello

I would like to build wireless network for local area - got one linux box (Slackware 12.0) and CANYON CN-WF511 54MBPS PCI card ..

lspci -v
Quote:

01:08.0 Network controller: RaLink RT2561/RT61 802.11g PCI
Subsystem: RaLink Unknown device 2561
Flags: bus master, slow devsel, latency 66, IRQ 11
Memory at 40000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=32K]
Capabilities: [40] Power Management version 2
on ..
Quote:

Linux version 2.6.21.5-smp (root@midas) (gcc version 4.1.2) #2 SMP
So .. how to build wireless access point with some kind of web interface to admin it?

Which driver do you recommend? Which web interface (is wifiadmin ok?) ?

I've tried rt61 driver, but it doesn't support master (ap) mode.

Well if the current drivers don't support Master mode, then that is pretty much the end of the story. The finished rt2x00 driver is going to support Master mode for all the RT chipsets (at least, that is the plan) but it isn't considered stable enough for actual use yet.

Until you have a stable driver for the card that supports Master mode, the best you can do is Ad-Hoc, which I am guessing isn't what you wanted to do.

Thenx for the reply ..

Which PCI wireless card would you recommend to buy, that would do the job (linux, master, SMA connector) ?
