BT Voyager 1020 Wireless Lan Network Card on Slaxs
 
Recently I got the live linux cd SLAX now it is great and I am eager to use it to its full extent but am behind a gigantic bolder. I can't get internet connection :( So I've consulted linuxquestions for answers :) I have a BT voyager 1020 Laptop Adapter 802.11b Wireless LAN and am looking for drivers sorry if you have been asked this question so many times just im :newbie: thanks in advance.

Well, Welcome to LQ........Unfortunately, you may have a rough welcome. Wireless in linux is either very easy or very tough. For your card, there is a LQ HCL entry that suggests it works with the Atmel drivers. The bad news is that since you are using Slax from a CD, unless Slax already has the Atmel driver compiled in, your going to have to compile the driver every time you boot.

So I think you really have three things to look at here. First, dig through the Slax site and see if they have included the Atmel drivers in their distro. Second, if you want to stick with a CD based distro, maybe check out one of the more fully configured ones like Knoppix and see if they have the Atmel drivers on the CD. If I remember correctly, Slax is trying to keep their distro to a minimum size and that means they don't include a lot. The third option would be to carve out a little hard disk space and dual-boot the computer. That would allow you to permanently install the Atmel drivers.

O thank you very much I will probably get slax propely on my hard drive I am sort of testing it out for now its mostly because I'm used to windows but I really do like slax so far I will look into those drivers thank you very much though.
