Broadcom 4311 ndiswrapper=no joy.

I can get my 4311 installed and working. I know it's a 4311 because of this.

Code:
0000:0c:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation: Unknown device 4311 (rev 01)
The trouble is, once I boot into linux and get running good, the interface stalls. When I run dmesg, I get this:
Code:
[17179810.516000] hci_acldata_packet: hci0 ACL packet for unknown connection handle 49
However, in my research that appears to be a bluetooth error, which isn't a big deal, right? I've tried installing ndiswrapper several different ways, and no success. If I use the stock kernel with Dapper Drake (Ubuntu) it will work. However I need to run 2.6.15-25-686 #1 SMP. I've installed the driver from Dell's website, I'm at a loss here, and this is my last resort to find a resolution to my problem.

Unfortunately you really haven't asked a question that anyone can help you with. Could you give an explanation of what you've done when trying to install ndiswrapper and what has gone wrong?

This is actually pretty interesting. If you run lsmod when using the stock kernel, do you see ndiswrapper or bmc43xx?

Well when I install ndiswrapper with the windows driver, it installs just fine. My only problem is the connection stalls when using it, and nothing can fix it except a reboot. Why does it do that?

Sorry, I misread your original post. Stalling like that is frequently a symptom of a Windows driver not getting along with ndiswrapper. If you haven't already, check the ndiswrapper wiki for drivers known to work with that card. If you're already using one, maybe check the manufacturers website and see if there is something more recent. I'd also check your logs (/var/log/syslog, /var/log messages and dmesg) after a stall and see if ndiswrapper has left any clues.

Thanks, I'll look into it. Would the new kernel cause something like that to happen?
