Best set up for home wireless w/ DLink 802.11N, OpenSuse11.1, OLPC & Kubuntu 8.10?
 

Recently upgraded old wireless router to D-Link DIR625 802.11N. Have Dynamic DSL internet connection (in Honduras -- not easy to configure or find materials); AMD 64X2 desktop with OpenSuse 11.1 and 1.5 TB files I would like to share amongst my OLPC laptop and my work Dell laptop dual-booted with Vista Business and Kubuntu 8.10.

I've tried configuring NFS as I didn't want to get into Samba (I'm to linux expert), nor do I need to as I understand it, unless I want to share with my Vista machine.

So what is the best / easiest way to share files between a desktop upstairs in the house with 1.5 TB files on it and my OLPC and work laptop in the rest of the house using a D-Link 802.11N wireless router?

If NFS is actually the best way to go, I'll give it another try -- but I think it might have to do with a bug in Fedora 9 -- on which the OLPC is based; or the firewall on the D-Link (which I thought I disabled for testing).

Internet is up and working on all 3 computers. I've assigned static 192.168.0.19x identities to them all. Tried to modify the /etc/exports file properly, downloaded the YAST2 interface and went through with it -- though I still get an "internal error" with the OLPC and no luck at all with Kubuntu.

Am I missing something with NFS? Should I give it another go and post my /etc/exports and /etc/fstab files? Or is there an easier way, perhaps ftp? Or is it Samba? Or should I work with Apache (all I know is that it is a server platform -- beyond that, I'm lost -- which I was w/ linux 7 years ago as well, but getting along nicely thus far).

Any and all help appreciated -- even a quick comment pointing me in the right direction so I can modify my google searches.

You sure the OLPC has the NFS client sortware installed? That said, I found it easy just to mount the PC's drive that I use as a file server (using NFS). Therefore it is probably the best way to go IMHO.
