Belkin F5D7050 and ndiswrapper: invalid driver!

This might well be a bit ambitious for a Linux newbie, but I'm having a go at adding a Linux box to my network via a Wireless USB adaptor

I'm currently using Ubuntu 5.04. I have a Belkin Wireless G USB network adaptor (F5D7050), for which I've copied over the drivers folder which the
rt2500usb.inf (and .sys and .cat files).

I've followed the instructions given on various "How to's" and such. However, when I try to install I get the following errors:

andy@cedar:~/drivers$ sudo ndiswrapper -i /home/andy/drivers/rt2500usb.inf
rt2500usb is already installed. Use -e to remove it
andy@cedar:~/drivers$ ndiswrapper -l
Installed ndis drivers:
drivers invalid driver!
rt2500usb invalid driver!
andy@cedar:~/drivers$ modprobe ndiswrapper
FATAL: Error inserting ndiswrapper (/lib/modules/2.6.10-5-386/kernel/drivers/net/ndiswrapper/ndiswrapper.ko): Operation not permitted
andy@cedar:~/drivers$ dmesg | grep ndiswrapper
ndiswrapper version 1.0rc2 loaded (preempt=yes,smp=no)
ndiswrapper (wrapper_init:1494): loadndiswrapper failed (1792); check system log for messages from 'loadndisdriver'
ndiswrapper version 1.0rc2 loaded (preempt=yes,smp=no)
ndiswrapper (wrapper_init:1494): loadndiswrapper failed (1792); check system log for messages from 'loadndisdriver'
ndiswrapper version 1.0rc2 loaded (preempt=yes,smp=no)
ndiswrapper (wrapper_init:1494): loadndiswrapper failed (1792); check system log for messages from 'loadndisdriver'
andy@cedar:~/drivers$ uname -r
2.6.10-5-386

Where am I going wrong? What else might I try?
If your help includes code please be very clear (I'm from a Windows GUI only background. Sorry!), All help would be greatly appreciated!!

First check if you have the right driver. Check the links or info on the ndiswrapper site. Sometimes xp drivers work and others don't. Until it ndiswrapper -l says driver present hardware present you won't get on the internet.

Thanks for the reply.

This is the correct driver, I checked the ndiswrapper website for confirmation before installing.

Re: Belkin F5D7050 and ndiswrapper: invalid driver!

Your version of ndiswrapper is a bit old. Try downloading, building and installing version 1.2. That may help. I have been using ndiswrapper with a pcmcia card (Linksys WRT54G) for more than a year.
