Belkin F5D6020 fails to connect when multiple access points available

I ve just managed to get my wireless card in linux working
after hours of work but now i m having a majot issue with it.

The problem appears to be that when I m in an area with more than one access point (college library) the card just cant get an ip address. it thinks for 5 min and then says pinging 192.168.0.1 send 3 packets none recieved, failed.

But when i take the laptop home our into the computer room in college and conect there is absolutely no problem connects straight away (in both locations home and the labs there is only one wireless access point).

Do i have something not set up properly

Any help would be great

i m using a Belkin F5D6020 ver2, and i installed it using an atmel_firmare rpm.

Thanks again
jj

Try telling the wireless adapter which AP to use;

ifdown wlan0 (or whatever your wireless adapter is)

iwlist wlan0 scan

Choose one (a good idea to pick the strongest one) and do something like;

iwconfig wlan0 essid 'CHOOSEN ESSID HERE'
