[SOLVED] Automatic Wireless Configuration broken in SuSe 9.3

Hi everyone,

I've just installed SuSe Linux 9.3, and immediately took advantage of the madwifi drivers that were pre-compiled into the kernel. I ran through the set-up and configured my wireless card with my ESSID and WEP key, and that seemed fine; until I tried to make it work. The name servers couldn't resolve, so I went to command line and set it up manually:

Code:
su
ifconfig ath0 down
ifconfig ath0 192.168.0.1 up
route add default gw 192.168.0.1
That solved my problem for now, but I don't really fancy sudoing the interface up manually every time I switch on the computer. The madwifi driver is working fine, and I can ping the router (D-Link DL-624+) but automatic seems to fail.

Any tips?

Thanks

Make it work via the networking scripts. Can't help you find them as I've never used and probably never will use suse. You can probably find some in /etc/

You should have some file in which you can set your interfaces. You can set essid etc. there and use either dhcp or static (fill in the address and gatewat etc.) from there.

Thanks. I've solved it now. I checked Passphrase instead of ASCII mode for the key.
