Atheros 5006EG / Lenovo R61e / Ubuntu 7.1 32bit

I am lost but have made progress. I got this machine to run on the internet using ethernet cable. I have a brand new Lenovo R61e ($499 special from Newegg) & wireless was working with XP until I decided this machine was going to become an exclusive linux machine. I installed 7.1 Desktop 32-bit (Celeron)...

While the hardware list shows the Atheros 5006EG, I cannot find it or get it to work... I am confused between NDISWRAPPER & MADWIFI... Which is better for an A/B/G card like the 5006?

What do I do now?

Thanks,

Rafman

I have an Acer 5315($315 :)) with the same chipset, and followed the instructins in bytor's post on page one, and it worked perfectly.

Just make sure you remove and purge any current ndiswrapper install. Then compile the new one, and install the driver(follow "INSTRUCTIONS" in the documentation). I messed around w/ the version in the repos for a while, before reading that apparently you need the newest version to get it to work properly with this new chipset. I also tried madwifi, and several other things, which wonked it up even more. So I did a clean install, and now its working perfectly.

I can see several networks in my neighborhood, login, etc.
