acx111 for dwl-g630

hi folks. i just saw a thread on another forum that stated there was a native driver for this card (dwl-g630). is this true? if so, how would i go about uninstalling the ndiswrapper and subsequently install this particular driver? i'm sorry but i'm just a little excited about the prospect about a native driver for this card. any help here would be greatly appreciated. thanx in advance.

Try typing lspci and see what you get for your card. If it responds with ACX100 (I think ACX111 also is supported now) then you should be alright.

snip from acx100's README:
Quote:
=== CARD COMPATIBILITY (aka "the real dirt") ===

Let us first mention that this driver is supposed to support EVERY SINGLE CARD
with ACX100 chip (except for Compact Flash implementations,
which are very rare). USB support exists for both 2.6.x and 2.4.x,
however it may be not completely "stable" yet, and Linux 2.4.x USB stack
is buggy (both uhci and usb-uhci; ohci and ehci should be ok, though),
so better use 2.6.x for USB! [041203]

Determining whether your wireless card is supported by this driver can
be done by running "lspci". This should give you an idea whether it should
be ok or not.

If the driver doesn't work with your ACX100 card, then please notify us
immediately after you followed *EVERY ADVICE IN THIS FILE* (and elsewhere)
and are at your wits end as to what might still make the card fail
(trying previous versions of the driver is very important as well!).

Other Texas Instruments chips which are e.g. 802.11g capable and are named
TNETW1130/1230 (ACX111) started to actually be supported in a useful way
by this driver some time ago only, so due to different hardware
implementations some ACX111 card designs might still not be working yet,
even at this time [041203].

Also, due to confusion about similar card naming (for further information, see
bottom), people keep thinking certain cards they own work with this driver.
Cards that are *NOT* based on ACX1xx chipset (as opposed to the stupidly
similarly named ACX1xx versions DWL-120+, DWL-520+ and DWL-650+, which *do*
have ACX1xx) are:

DWL-120 (PRISM2 chipset)
DWL-520 (PRISM2)
DWL-650 (PRISM2, minus few newer variants which D-Link messed up to have the
ACX100 instead)
DWL-G120 (PRISM GT)
DWL-G520 (Atheros AR5212A)
DWL-G650, version A1 (PRISM GT)
DWL-G650, version B1 (Atheros AR5211)
DWL-G650, version B2 (Atheros AR5001)
DWL-AG520 (Atheros AR5212)
DWL-AB650 (Atheros AR5211)
DWL-AG650 (Atheros AR5212)

When looking at the DWL-G650 mess, I could puke again...
Again, the cards mentioned in the listing above will NOT work with this driver
(yet?), in most cases you will need to be able to find a different Linux driver
supporting your card's chipset... (try Google "[CHIPSET] Linux")
Feel free to send us corrections/additions to this very confusing listing above.

Two penguins just had things done. I had no trouble, these two had no trouble at compiling. (after that they had slight trouble)

It is not big task. (follow threads I am involved in, click search below my post) and follow them.

If you run into some trouble, post here what you get.

Hi,

I have heard that ndiswrapper does not work with G630. Use madwifi.
