I am fairly certain that i am looking for a wireless card at eth1, it isn't detected. Can anyone help, dmesg doesn't mention anything, ( not too sure what to look for though)

I just got an Aspire 3502 WLCI (maybe the same one you have, if not it's very similar).

You will want to install 'ndiswrapper' if you don't have it already, and then look in the c:\windows\system32\drivers directory for the .INF file with the driver information for the built-in WiFi (an Atheros AR5005G in my case).

I just found out there may be a native driver for the card, which would be much better than using ndiswrapper -- but my laptop *is* working w/ the ndiswrapper solution.

A bigger problem is that suspend doesn't work. I also have an Acer Travelmate 2303 and suspend doesn't work on THAT, either. My previous laptops were Toshibas, and they always worked ok

Hi I also have Aspire 3502 and was unsuccessful with the wifi. I tried Mandriva 2005 LE and Ubuntu live CD.
I googled around and seems there IS a native driver for atheros cards, namely madwifi.sourceforge.net
The only problem is that for today it supports up to AR5004G, while the one installed in the laptop is AR5005G :-(
Seems we need to wait.
But anyways thanx for the ndiswrapper advice. I'll play with that.
Greetings,
mfr

I have a Toshiba Satellite A85-S107 with the Atheros AR5005G and it is supported in SLAX. It has been the only Distro so far that I have found to support the AR5005G. I guess its the Madwifi driver.
