Accessing FTP from Windows Client

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
I have Fedora Core 3 installed on a machine, I have the VSFTPD service running (Apache and Samba are also running). Ports 20 and 21 are open on my router. So far I can access the machine via ftp using either the Windows DOS prompt or using Putty.

I wanted to be able to set up a FTP area that people could login and put some pictures. Since most are probally using either MACs or PCs I would like to make it easy for them, so that they wouldn't need to use anything that resembled the terminal.

When I go to login using windows by typing ftp://USERNAME@tadgeobrien.com I get the following error . If I use the terminal I can access the FTP site without a problem.

Does anyone know if VSFTPD can be accessed from Windows using just Explorer?

If so what do I need to do? Here is my conf file

If not what FTP client can be used?

Hi.

vsftpd works fine with Internet Explorer. The problem could be the IE is trying to use the wrong type of connection (passive or port). If your router's not particularly smart, passive connections might be blocked, as it looks like the client is trying to make a connection on a random port. If the client's router's similarly braindead, port connections could be blocked.

Have a look at this page for enlightenment:
