802.11b v 802.11g Wireless PC cards

Two questions about the above:
1. If I buy a g card would it be able to connect at the b level if g isn't available either because of Linux or the network I'm connecting to?
2. Where can I find a listing of cards that are naturally able to connect to Mandrake 10.1? By naturally, I mean I don't have to jump thru 1000 hoops to get it to work each time.

Thanks!

I'm not 100% sure about the first question, but 802.11g is backwards-compatible with b, yes.

About the second - try the HCL here :)
