What is the best way to utilize my usb drives as cloud storage?

I have a computer that is being used as my home server (Debian Wheezy). The computer only has a 30 gb ssd and I have two larger usb drives connected to it that I would like to use as a personal cloud.

I have an instance of Owncloud on a DigitalOcean hosted server. It works and I know how to set it up but reading through their site and forums it seems like utilizing the usb drives with Owncloud may or may not work.

I am also considering trying BT Sync but I'm not sure if that will do what I want.

My only requirements is that I can use the USB drives and I can still use the server to run other things like hosting KVM virtual machines

http://forum.owncloud.org/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=19102 suggests it can be done using ext2 filesystem.

How are these drives formatted?

ext4 but no big deal. There is nothing I need on them so I don't mind reformatting

Decided to give bt sync a try. Pretty easy to set up and works fine with my ext4 drives. Uploaded one video file to test and syncs up with my android phone and seems to be working well for what I need

That's good news!

Experience IMO, can be described as "getting the job done with tools that are required but you do not have."
Good job, Well done!
