Question vmware on Linux host: Mouse not function properly when using openGL software

Good morning everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone can help out with this and help find me a solution to the following issue.

I've set up two virtual machines in vmware Player, one having Ubuntu Budgie 17.04 installed, the other running Windows7 Starter.
The reason I did so is to use either one of these in combination with NoMachine on my ARM boards so I can invite friends to play some good old LAN games with me easily.

Now here's the issue.
When using the mouse in games that use openGL, it'll either only notice one half of one axis or warp all over the place, depending on the operating system running inside the vm.

Is there any way to fix that problem?

As far as startpaging goes, I found only one rather old and halfway helpful entry somewhere in another message board mentioning a vmmouse package for xorg which however seems no longer to be available and wouldn't work for Windows7 anyway.

Would be great if someone could provide help because this would make things a lot easier and save a lot of money, hardware wise.

Kind regards,
WaterCatapult

Have you installed the guest additions? Or whatever they're called in VMware.

Another thing to try is to install virtualbox and see if that improves things. Both of your VMs will run in virtualbox.

You haven't said what OS your host is, if it's Mint/Ubuntu then I'd try a different kernel. You're probably running kernel 4.4, I'd pump that up to 4.8 or 4.9.
