VMWare issues with Fedora

I was recently asked to tutor some students for their Linux class. They were using Fedora 12 and VMWare to build systems. We had repeated issues with getting the systems to recognize the nic cards and allow network access. Has anyone else had this issue with VMWare? I used VBox and had no problems connecting, but the college requires them to use VMWare.
Thanks for any ideas.

Support for Fedora 12 ended over a year ago. Try it with Fedora 16 (current).

What host and client OS is this. What vmware application are you using?

Good that you used virtualbox but since I assume you mean that your client OS is having issues that won't help. Vmware and virtualbox use different virtual nic's.
