VirtualBox: how to determine if PUEL or OSE version?

Hello

There are so many questions about getting USB to work under VirtualBox it may be worth having a sticky, perhaps with a script to sanity-check the system. I know enough to write a draft for peer-review and evolution-by-usage except how to determine if the PUEL or OSE version of VirtualBox is installed -- both at the GUI and programmatically.

Best

I have installed the rpm on Fedora and if I do a "rpm -qi VirtualBox" it says "License: VirtualBox Personal Use and Evaluation License (PUEL)". Also, there is file in /usr/share/doc/VirtualBox-3.0.8_53138_fedora8/LICENSE where I can see that it is the PUEL version. I think the OSE version should have a GPL LICENSE file. well, not 100% sure about that...
