virtual device using Virtio

Hello I am new to virtio.
I have understood how exactly virtio works, but still I have some doubts regarding it.
Can anyone explain me for a front end driver(virtual device driver) what is the equivalent back end driver(device driver in Hypervisor ie KVM).
I am using KVM and Qemu for device emulation and ubuntu 11.04 as host and ubuntu 10.04 as guest. I have understood how virtual queues are used, but I am still unclear how exactly virtual device
driver calls the the back end drivers(device drivers in Hypervisor) possibly with the kick function.
Finally how exactly back end drivers calls device emulators ie the virtual device emulated in Qemu.

Thanks
Regards
