virt-manager add disk to vm without shutdown

Does anybody know if it's possible to add disks to kvm guest without shutdown and startup of the guest?

This can be done in ESX using rescan-scsi-bus.sh and then able to see the drive.

add the disk using the gui and then run something like this on the vm

Code:
echo "- - -" > /proc/sys/class/scsi_host/host0/scan
the path may differ depending on the os

Probably you have to set HDD contoller as AHCI to use hotplug.
