I've got a new MSI board with 4 gig of DDR3 and Ubuntu 12.04. I downloaded the latest virtual box from te web site and installed win xp for a couple of programs that will not run on wine but I need to earn income.
I have an Epson Workforce 310 that prints without a hitch from the Precise side but I am totally unable to even find it in the vbox driven windoze install. I have fopund, by googling that I need to network the guest to the host but have found no hint of how to go about this and to get the printer to work.
Distribution: Debian Sid AMD64, Raspbian Wheezy, various VMs

I'm afraid I can't help with networking the guest to the host to get the printer working but if you just want to use it as a USB printer under Windows or Ubuntu you will need to install the Virtualbox extension pack to allow the guest OS to access USB devices.
