unable to run vmplayer after installation on opensuse12.2 X86-64
 

Sir,

Recently I have installed opensuse12.2x86-64 on AMD FX4100( 64bit ) machine. Then I have downloaded vmplayer from vmware site and installed, then the message "installation successful" was displayed and also I have followed the steps suggested on opensuse website related to vmplayer. Still I am getting the following error.

Again, there are NOT JUST SIRS on this site. You don't say what guide you followed, or what you're doing to get the error(s) you posted above...can you provide details about those things?? Did you build from source or install from package? Any errors/warnings as you built?
Bumping your own thread after thirty minutes, doesn't get you an answer any more quickly, and is fairly rude. All you really succeeded in doing is removing your question from the zero-reply list, making it less visible, and less likely for someone to notice and answer it.

Hmm....based on the link you gave, somethings not right. Mainly because step 10 says:
...so why are you typing "vmplayer" at the command line?? Did you perform step 10, and did it give you any messages? Are the VMWare services started? Are you starting it as root, or as your regular user (that makes a difference).
People are trying to help you, but you didn't provide details at first, then bumped your own thread. And packages seem to be a problem for you in general, since you have other threads about adding 750 repositories to your system, but never said why, and ignored advice that this was a bad thing.

Yes previously my intention was to add 750 repositories but I changed my attitude and in fact I have not included these into repos.

Well, it appears as if things are started. But you still haven't said whether or not you're starting it as root or a regular user, which DOES affect things. You also say that you're NOT getting a window, but did you close the terminal as the instructions said? Do you see anything in the logs?

Also, have you just plain tried to reboot your system, to make sure things are loaded, and (again), have you checked to see whether the vmplayer services are running???

yes I have ran vmplayer as root user and local user after restarting and both gave same error I have checked which services are running and noticed that vmware service is running. Are there any other services need to be run. I am providing the log file created during the vmplayer installation.

Is it not showing up in your menu, as stated in item #11 in the instructions?? Because if it's not, there is SOMETHING that's not getting installed correctly. I ran the installation here on a 12.1 and a 12.2 machine, and it worked perfectly, including the menu item.

Are you sure you've got the base development packages and kernel source installed? Because if you ran through the steps in that document and got no errors, there's no reason it shouldn't run. By any chance, is the HAL daemon running on your system?? I've seen reference to that being an issue on the VMWare forums, if it's not.

Yesterday I have downloaded and installed VMware workstation9 again "installation successful"
message appeared and I am unable to start.I am getting the same error as in vmplayer.

What is the root cause of this problem. Are there any conflicting packages preventing vmware to run. What are the packages need to be installed and what are the packages should not be installed, what are the services need to be started and what are the packages should not be started etc.,.

some sites are assisting that kernel-headers package must be pre installed.When I have searched in installed softwares I have found a substitute for this package starting with glibc.

Again, you need to follow the directions ENTIRELY. You can't skip, modify, or omit steps, and expect things to work. If you read the installation notes, it REQUIRES that the kernel headers/source be installed. Period. If you don't have them installed, IT WILL NOT WORK. You can easily install them through Yast->Software Manager, and search for "kernel" in the description.
