Trying to convert my slackware 64 bit version 13 to vmware

I am trying to convert my slackware physical machine to vmware by using either the vmware converter 4.0.1 or g4l. On the internet there are a lot saying that vmware converter does not support slackware yet, so I am using g4l. I succeed to create the images and download them into my vmware after creating the disks on vmware and creating partitions with the slackware iso version but it cannot boot.

It's been a long time since I used VMWare (I use KVM now). Is there a way to have the VM boot from the CD/DVD? That way you could use the standard Slackware recovery methods to reinstall LILO.

Yes I can boot from the iso image. The only thing is that I am stucked when doing kudzu to find any new devices and get rid of old ones and when creating the new init RAM disk. Does slackware supports kudzu if no what I can use. Thanks

kudzu is a Red Hat utility. Slackware has a built-in script that helps with an initrd.

Code:

/usr/share/mkinitrd/mkinitrd_command_generator.sh

It provides cut & paste output customized to the current environment. You can manually add other devices if they don't show up with the generator script.

When mounting the linux partition and did change root. I went to /usr/share and the only thing that I can find related is a folder called mkinitrd. Please advise as I cannot find the script mkinitrd_command_generator.sh. Should it be found only in the emergency linux boot iso?

Install/reinstall the mkinitrd-1.3.4-x86_64-3 package and you'll have the file. Did you do a full install of Slackware or something less?

When trying to install it is giving me an error Modules for kernel 2.6.29.6 arent't isntalled. The reason being is that kernel 2.6.20.13 is installed. How can I install the modules for this kernel again.

2.6.20.13? Slackware 64 bit first release was 2.6.29.6. Something's not right.
