security of internet connection on virtualized linux install

Hi All,

Is is safe to browse the internet from a virtualized *nix/Linux instance on a laptop with Windows Vista w/o any anti-virus software installed?

How secure is the connection established via the virtualized *nix/Linux instance?

Thanks for your time.

Cheers,
Anand.

Yes, it's no different than being on a physical Linux.

As secure as it would be in a physical machine. Use the same rules for securing your sessions in virtual land as you do in physical land. That means use encryption when appropriate etc.

Surely, Safer than using a Windows vista w/o anti-virus, only if you compromise the performance and difficulty of using a browser inside the "console" window.
