Runing Gentoo, CentOS and FreeBSD in XEN on a notebook for training?

Hello!
Actually I am a newbie in things regarding virtualization.
After some reading I decided that I want to use XEN for virtualisation since it runs on hardware and gives the best performances. Also I would like to learn more about XEN because I hope to get a job as a system administrator.
However, I am not sure if this is a good idea since I want to run all this on my notebook for daily use.
What are your opinions and recommendations?

Running test OS's on a needed computer is not such a hot idea. A newbie or expert is bound to screw it up just when you need it.
Laptops tend to be poor choices for any exotic type setup. Even common distro's will have issues. I think I'd try to buy a bare bones amd or cheap intel that has full support for vm's. One to get you by may only be $200, maybe less.
