RHEL Hyper visor Instillation on VMware Workstation / Oracle Virtual Box

Hi,

I tried to install RHEL-Hypervisor on Virtual Machine , but unable to process , due to CPU limitation i guess.

I have a laptop with Intel core i3 64bit.

Is it possible to install RHEL-H for testing on this h/w? with the help of Virtual Machine s/w like Oracle / VMware?

The RHEL Hypervisor needs hardware virtualzation in order to be installed.

You can test this with KVM and Nested Virtualization.

There is good information about this here - http://blog.jebpages.com/archives/ov...-nested-kvm-fu

custangro gave some good advice. However, if you need information on Red Hat products, you need to CALL RED HAT and ask them, or check their website. Also, just saying "unable to process", doesn't tell us much...providing details helps folks answer questions.

Also...you've been asking about virtualization since 2009...after FOUR YEARS, have you not made any progress??

Thanks for your reply and suggestions...

I have talked with RED HAT and they said .. we can't install RHEL- Hypervisor on VMware workstation or any VM provided software for testing, but to use Physical Hardware with the recommended cpus details, but on the other hand i can install ESX as VM..

2nd ... about asking questions on virtualization or anything , it does not mean that i did not make any progress so far :).
I work in R&D dept. where i have to test different tools / technologies time to time not only on virtualization / Linux but also Microsoft / Linux / Solaris / Cloud / Automation / Orchestration / Virtualization etc .. anything which is related to my work..

If any question / doubt comes to my mind related to Linux i ask this blog for thoughts / suggestions.

If somebody feels that i do not make progress even though i really do not mind it, but try to learn more.. :):) ..

As per my understanding asking a question / query is no harm , but i agree it should be clear with some detail info.

Anyways thanks again for your help and suggestion.

...and so when Red Hat said you can't install it, you just decided to go ahead and try to do it anyway???? Again, as has been told to you in the past, and is FREQUENTLY mentioned on this site: if you're not going to PAY for Red Hat products, then YOU SHOULD NOT BE USING THEM

And by what you've said, you did the "R" part (research), when you called Red Hat. You then got the answer....so why ask us again here, if you already knew? And as part of the research, shouldn't you have read about what hardware virtualization entailed?

RHEV-H will not work if it misses the virtual CPU features. You can still play with it under nested KVM or vmware with nested virt, but performance will suffer and you will probably experience some additional issues.
ovirt.org actually has prebuilt vdsm hooks to enable nested virtualization on ovirt nodes.

If you explain what it is exactly you are trying to do, instead of feeding us scraps, wemight be able to provide some useful information, otherwise - you should be talking to RHT's support and adhering to their advice.
