Oracle V-Box - cannot mount Logical ext3 drive in Linux on wInXp

hello there i am trying to access a drive - M which is a logical one.i have formatted it with ext3 file system and i would like to access the drive all of
30gb from Virtual-Box's Linux os.i am using RHEL 5.5 server in Virtual bOx on a Win XP Os.i have also tried various mount command but at times
i get this protocol failed error,Also tried changing the default name given by the Vbox for the drive and tried mounting the same but no success.

i am able to mount the other drives-NTFS partition even automatically since i have edited my /etc/fstab for this.that works but this partition which i created using the paragon partition software is of type ext3 which I am not able to mount

Can someone take look at the screenshot and offer me some help.I have taken the screenshot from a live Ubuntu CD.

Try changing it to an ext2 instead of using ext3

As far as I understand you: You want to mount a partition from your host OS in your guest OS. You are aware of the fact that the guest OS is using a virtual harddisk, not a physical? It resides in an image file that is on one of your host OSes partitions. You have to make Virtualbox aware of the partition you want to use, before you can use it.
You should have a look at the Virtualbox Manual, especially the parts about Virtual storage and the Advanced storage configuration, to get a better understanding.

I could not have explained it better myself. I actually didn't want him to get confused, but I myself couldn't tell if he was talking about a host machine or guest machine.
