not pinging host gateway from linux guest

Experts,

I installed RedHat Linux 4.5 on vista. I am able to ping host vista but not the vista default gateway.

Answer would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Unodba

Sounds like you gave it an isolated network type, if you're using VMware products this would be "host only". For your vm to communicate outside the host OS you would need to use a NAT or bridged type of network. Different virtualisation products have equivalent types of networking and the terminology varies but hopefully you'll get the point.

cheers
