No menu in VMWare Player 3.1.4, Ubuntu 11.04

Greetings, I see no file menu in VMWare Player and therefore cannot power-off/reset my VM.

I see only a blank background where the menu should be at the top between the window controls (close and minimize) and the VM window.

I haven't found any evidence that others are experiencing this problem however I believe my system is a regular 'ol unaltered upgrade of Ubuntu.

This is the case both in the "home" administrative interface of VMware Player as well as the VM interface.

$ lsb_release -a

NeverMind - the menus are now placed in the mac-style bar at the top.
