It would be efficient to explain steps or propose your plan and ask specific questions. So what is it exactly that you have problems with? VMware basics? P2V (physical to virtual)?

See this page for the official way. http://www.vmware.com/products/converter/overview.html

I think you mean esxi also.

What 'problem' do you have??? The steps are:
  1. Build VMWare ESX server
  2. Define a guest container
  3. Load Linux
  4. Configure DNS
Since you already say you've GOT a Linux DNS server up and running, I'm assuming you know steps 3 and 4 already. The VMware documentation covers steps one and two, and your tech-support for VMware ESX can also help you.

hi again

i know these steps . but i want to move my current dns server (with all configurations) in vmware esx5.
i think i can install new cetnos 6.3 on vmware and move only configuration files. is that right?

Again, if you have already built and configured a Linux DNS server, you already know what's involved. Putting the server on a VMware guest is no different than building a physical server. You configure it the same way.

So if you want to just move a DNS server, you would obviously just copy the DNS configuration files to the new server, as you would with ANY server migration.
