kvm snapshot


how to create a snapshot of a guest machine? and how to restore a guest from a snapshot?

OS: redhat 6.6 using kvm

are you using libvirt? it's as simple as a single virsh command

i use virsh
virsh snapshot-create RHEL1
error: unsupported configuration: internal snapshot for disk vda unsupported for storage type raw

good, we now have some details. since internal snapshot is not possible, what you can do is create snapshots using qemu-img, the snapshot shoudl be qcow2, the base image can remain raw

please, can you send me the command line to create snapshots using qemu-img?
