[SOLVED] KVM / libvirt on Slack 14.1 64-bit

Hi,

After installing KVM, libvirt, and qemu, I have been following this guide for configuration and VM creation. I have hit a wall when it comes to creating a new VM however.

Upon attempting to create a new VM on my localhost, Virtual Machine Manager reports Error launching manager: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'get_default_storage_format', with the following details:

I don't speak Python which doesn't make the traceback particularly revealing, and online research has so far consistently circled back around to "install qemu", which I had performed previously. Any fresh ideas would be greatly appreciated!

What options did you select earlier in the process?

FWIW, I'm using...

libvirt-python-1.2.6-x86_64-1_SBo

Thanks for the reply Richard Cranium. Your list prompted me to start looking up installed package versions, but then I had to stop and remind myself of this part of my opening message:

Apparently I had downloaded the qemu source and SlackBuild, but never installed it.

I rectified that little gem a few moments ago, and the error on attempting to create a new VM is no longer. For what it's worth I'm currently working with:

libvirt-1.2.3-x86_64-1_SBo
libvirt-glib-0.1.8-x86_64-1_SBo
libvirt-python-1.2.3-x86_64-1_SBo
virt-manager-1.0.0-x86_64-1_SBo
qemu-2.0.0-x86_64-2_SBo

I see that a couple of those have advanced a bit since I last downloaded them. Adding updates to my to-do list....
