How to tell a virtual machine is on cloud environment?
Hello:
When log into a Linux bo, i know it is a virtual machine. How could i find out it is on cloud environment or not? Thanks. WL. |
If you are logging into it across the internet, it is almost by definition in a "cloud environment," as it is not local. Remember that "cloud" is a marketing term and mostly means, "here's something I I'm dressing up in fancy words to try to sell it to you."
What exactly do you mean by "cloud environment." And, in general, if you are logging directly into a into VM remotely, I don't know of any way for you to see outside the confines of the VM to determine what its environment may be. There may be one, but I haven't run into it. |
Since it would be a software version of a system you might get a good guess from the devices reported. As a rule, VM's have virtual hardware that is similar. Some very new systems use the real hardware.
