I im guessing that you have installed a linux OS in vmware, and that the error appears in the virtual os.
(some more info on OS version etc. may prove helpful though..)
The error refers to ATAPI device hdc, that's usually the third hd controller in the system, suggesting you have two more (hda and hdb).
The message complains about the physical device not being ready for some command.
Is there a image linked to that device?
What does "fdisk /dev/hdc" say, and what hd* devices do you actually have in "/dev/" ?
A copy of the whole kernel boot log would also prove helpful (dmsg).
These are the out put that have asked.
but today when start my machine, i did not get this error dont know what happened. is the issue resolved.
i have posted the message log below.
[root@linux ~]# fdisk /dev/hdc
Unable to open /dev/hdc
[root@linux ~]# fdisk /dev/hd*
Usage: fdisk [-b SSZ] [-u] DISK Change partition table
fdisk -l [-b SSZ] [-u] DISK List partition table(s)
fdisk -s PARTITION Give partition size(s) in blocks
fdisk -v Give fdisk version
Here DISK is something like /dev/hdb or /dev/sda
and PARTITION is something like /dev/hda7
-u: give Start and End in sector (instead of cylinder) units
-b 2048: (for certain MO disks) use 2048-byte sectors
[root@linux ~]# tailf /var/log/messages
