Finding free Ports for VMare WSX vs Bittorrent Sync?

I hav einstalled VMware WSX and went to install Linux Bittorent Sync (both runningn on Ubuntu 14.04). Unfortunately they both use port port 8888 (localhost:8888 in a browser) so I can disinguish them. I have yet to find a way to change the port in WSX after installing the default port (although I have change the /etc/vmware/wsx config file to port 8887). Is there a waly to

a) Find which ports are open and available to me and
b) Change the port for either WSX or Bittorent sync so I can both in a browser.

My first post here.

TIA

'netstat -ntul' (or 'ss -ntul') gives you all TCP and UDP ports on which a service is listening.
Replace "-l" with "-a" to see all TCP and UDP ports in use.

Best check the documentation first.
