Best host OS for OpenVZ, any recommendation?
Hello,
I would like to play around with openvz. Does anybody have any idea the best os choice for host server? I was thinking about ubuntu. Thanks, |
CentOS is supported from the Repo's and is easy to setup openvz with, not tried any other distos, but its well supported!

I chose CentOS for the openvz host now. I still have some problem. My host box has 5 public IP's, I do not know how to define a specified IP to the Container and let it to be accessible from internet. Command vzctl set {CTID} --ipadd {n.n.n.n} --save does not work for me. I have looked at the openvz.org wiki but still could not figure out of how to yet.

If your running Iptables etc it will need to be NAT'd etc. Have you checked out this section for some help:
http://wiki.openvz.org/Category:Networking. I don't need this functionality but you could also try their forums, they seam a hellpfull bunch. |

Choosing Ubuntu is the best choice.
I too like to be adventurous, when i bought my Openvz Vps from 9CubeHosting.com i choose Ubuntu. It is really a good platform for OpenVz VPS Hosting. Good Luck for you. |

You will only run into issues when you think of HA / virtual networking! but generally it will get the job done, pretty quickly. |
CentOS plays very well with openvz
