Question Accessing MySQL on Kubuntu host from WinXP guest(virtualbox)

Hi guys,

I'm running KUbuntu (Hardy) with a WinXP as guest using Sun xVM VirtualBox Ver 2.0.6

I'd like to access mysql server on the Hardy host, from the guest machine.

Currently I can't ping the host (IP = 10.0.0.2) from the guest machine, so seems I'll have to do some bridge networking or something (based on some posts
I've read). Only thing is (before I set off on a long journey to get bridging working): is this the best approach for accessing MySQL on the host ? (because I am thinking it might be better to have an IP - client - trying to log into mysql server, not sure if host networking provides this).

If anyone has advice or has achieved this, would love to hear!

many thanks for any help,
gvt

You'll have to enable remote connection support in your MySQL on Kubuntu. Just refer the following link,
